Public Holidays: On 29 October Republic Day, 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day and 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk Youth and Sports Day, these public holidays are counted as working days due to the participation of students in school ceremonies.

Ministry of National Education Provisions: The school year is divided into two semesters and each semester has a mid-term holiday. The Ministry shall announce the start of the school year, semester holidays, intermediate holidays, summer holidays and the dates of termination of classes. The school year shall not be less than 180 working days. However, if the 180th working day falls on a weekday, the end of the school year is extended until the last working day of the week. The duration of the school year is calculated by counting the days when the school is open from the day the classes start until the day the classes stop and the official and local holidays on which the students participate in the ceremonies.

Provisions for Preschool and Primary Education Institutions: The duration of the school year in pre-school and primary education institutions shall not be less than 180 working days.
